Flandria Illustrata is a Historiographical and cartographic work carried out in 1641 by the Flemish canon Anthony Sanderus.
It contains descriptions of the main towns and villages of the former county of Flanders. In addition to a description of his digging and bishops. Often a map or drawing of a city or village is added. The work had several editions in 1735 and was also published in Dutch under the title Verheerlykt Vlaandre.
Today, Flandria Illustrata is higly collected because of it's of its beautiful maps and drawings. We have some for sale under antique prints of Europe.
This is a collection of Portraits of Royalty and Noble people from the second edition dated 1735.
All are in extremely good condition, except where noted.
The racked paper is a nice warm cream colour and the images have a wide border.
The image sizes are approximately 11 x 6 1/2 inches (28 x 19.5 cm's, and the paper size is 16 x 9 1/2 inches (40.5 x 24.5 cm's).
The cockling in the paper is only the result of them being scanned.
They look magnificent when mounted and framed.
